First Aid Training
On the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (COHSR), the Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (AOHSR) and the Maritime Occupational Health and Safety Regulations (MOHSR) were amended, following consultation with industry stakeholders.
The amendment removes the requirement for the Minister of Labour to approve first aid training programs and allows for first aid training to be given by qualified individuals who hold a valid certification from an approved organization. The regulatory change also allows organizations that deliver in-house training to seek certification for their instructors so they can deliver training tailored to their sector or activities. Further details on these changes can be found in the Canada Gazette .
